Phenols

Phenols are molecules known for their following properties:

• Tonic and stimulating
• Anti-infectious
• Antibacterial
• Antiviral
• Antifungal
• Antiparasitic
• Immune-stimulating
• Antioxidant
• Rubefacient
• Hyperthermic

In their pure state, phenolic essential oils are dermocaustic. They should be diluted to 10-20% in a carrier oil for localized cutaneous application.

Phenols are naturally present in the following essential oils:

• Oregano green (Origanum vulgare)
• Thyme Thymol (Thymus vulgaris)
