Esters

Esters are recognized for having the following properties:

• Antispasmodic
• Neurotropic
• Muscle relaxing
• Anticonvulsant
• Anxiolytic
• Heart rhythm balancing
• Euphoric

Esters present no toxicity at usual doses. However, at high doses, acetates become epileptogenic and formates prove to be tachycardic.

Esters are molecules found in the following essential oils:

• Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis)
• Sweet wintergreen (Gaultheria fragrantissima)
