Harvest
A tropical aromatic plant grown at the heart of our farm in Madagascar
Native to Asia, lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), also known as Indian lemongrass, is a large tropical grass renowned for its vibrant, lemony, and refreshing fragrance. Now cultivated in several regions of the world, it thrives particularly in humid and sunny areas.
At Landema, we grow lemongrass directly on our own farm located in Ambanja, in the northwest of Madagascar. This region benefits from an ideal equatorial climate and rich soils that allow the plant to develop a high concentration of aromatic compounds. Our farm is certified Organic Agriculture and Fair For Life, ensuring a more ethical, sustainable, and traceable cultivation process.
Manufacturing
A handcrafted distillation at our own Fair for Life certified farm
Our organic Fair for Life lemongrass essential oil is produced directly on-site, in our distillation unit integrated within the farm. This short supply chain ensures optimal traceability and distillation of fresh raw material. The process follows these steps:
-
Hand harvesting of lemongrass leaves at full maturity, early in the morning to preserve their freshness.
-
Partial air drying, concentrating the aromatic compounds without altering them.
-
Steam distillation in stills, without solvents or additives.
-
Natural decantation of the oil and hydrosol.
-
Fine filtration to ensure a clear oil, free from sediment.
-
Quality control: compliance with Organic and Fair for Life standards.
Thanks to this complete control of the production chain, we produce a 100% pure and natural essential oil.
