Production
Harvest
Tahiti Monoï is an oily infusion of Tiare flowers, Gardenia Tahitensis, obtained through maceration in copra oil produced in Tahiti. This refined copra oil comes from a process of hot pressing dried coconut kernels.
In the 1980s, the majority of products containing Monoï were replicas produced in various locations, including Asia. However, it wasn't until April 1992 that the remarkable properties of Tahiti Monoï were officially recognized through the acquisition of the designation of origin, a recognition that guarantees both authenticity and quality. This certification is strictly reserved for products made in French Polynesia, following traditional methods meticulously, using Gardenia Tahitensis flowers - known as "Tiare" - macerated in refined copra oil.
Tahiti Monoï embodies a centuries-old tradition in French Polynesia. In the Tahiti language, "Monoï" evokes the idea of a "sacred oil" or a "fragrant oil." Historically, its use was reserved for the Arii, the local aristocracy.
This product holds paramount importance in the beauty routine of Polynesian women. It serves as a massage oil, a hair revitalizer, or even as sun protection (although it does not filter UVA and UVB rays, it helps prevent skin dehydration).
Manufacturing
The Tiare flowers, harvested just before full maturity, are placed in refined copra oil for a maceration period of 12 days, according to a specific protocol that requires a minimum of 10 flowers per liter of oil. After this step, the maceration rests for 24 hours, then is filtered and enriched with an antioxidant. The obtained oil undergoes rigorous quality controls before being packaged in a sealed standard packaging, accompanied by a warranty seal.

Tahitian Monoï is unique in that it does not contain many unsaturated fatty acids (only about 20%).
Tahitian Monoï is highly valued in cosmetics for its moisturizing and revitalizing properties on the skin and hair.
Skin Care:
Tahitian Monoï helps maintain the skin's natural hydration. This hydration, comparable to that of shea butter, gradually and sustainably extends to the outer layers of the epidermis. Its maximum effect is observed approximately 6 hours after application, and satisfactory levels persist for up to 8 hours. Moreover, it contributes to skin firmness and elasticity while helping to combat external aggressions such as wind, sun, sea salt, and pollution.
Hair Care:
Tahitian Monoï helps repair dry and damaged hair, restoring shine and facilitating styling. By forming a protective and lubricating film, it imparts softness and luster to the hair while preserving it from external damage.
