Description
Origin and production:
Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is a perennial aromatic plant native to Europe. It reveals its full olfactory potential in the sun-drenched regions of the Mediterranean, particularly in Provence, where it is cultivated both for its dried leaves and for the distillation of its essential oil.
We select an organic green oregano essential oil sourced from local crops and steam distilled by our partner located in the south of France.
Aromatic profile and composition:
Green oregano essential oil delivers a spicy, herbaceous scent with a powerful top note. It is characterized by its high carvacrol content (50 to 75%), which gives it its signature aromatic strength, enhanced by gamma-terpinene, para-cymene, and traces of thymol. This potent composition makes it a rare and valuable raw material.
Thanks to its intensity and distinctive aromatic profile, green oregano essential oil is used:
-
As a top note in spicy, fougère, or oriental perfumes, bringing vibrancy and herbal sharpness
-
In complex aromatic blends, where it can act as a bridge between woody and fresh notes
-
In very low doses, in natural or niche perfumery, for its bold character and its ability to structure an olfactory heart around a Mediterranean or wild theme
Note: For technical reasons, the vial used for the 1mL packaging has a capacity of approximately 4mL, so it is normal for it to appear about one-quarter full. The packaging is carried out using precise and calibrated laboratory equipment.
