Harvest
Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides) is a remarkable grass, above all for its roots. These have a unique capacity to retain soil, making them an ally against erosion, and contain an essential oil with a deep, inimitable fragrance. The plant thrives in warm climates and light soils, and is found in many tropical regions. For its roots to fully develop their aromatic potential, vetiver must remain in the ground for 10 to 14 months before harvest. In Madagascar, root harvesting runs mainly from November to April.
Manufacturing
Our vetiver by-absolute is part of the Biolandes group's upcycling range. The group grows and distils organic vetiver on its Madagascan farm near Ambanja. Once the essential oil has been extracted, the post-distilled roots are shipped to France, to Le Sen in the Landes region, where they undergo solvent extraction. For over 40 years, the group has been committed to responsible sourcing by upcycling the by-products of its own distillations.

Application
Main areas of application :
Perfumery
Perfumery
Our vetiver by-absolute brings woody, smoky and acrid notes, very powerful and tenacious. The opening is syrupy, reminiscent of caramel, with smoky, leathery and soot notes on top. The heart is woody and smoky, with soot notes. In the base, the woody note of vetiver returns in a smoky, mineral version, with root notes. This woody extract, smoky subfamily, has a tenacity exceeding seven days. It complements the roasted woods palette and allows the creation of an exceptional signature for oriental accords. It combines well with blackcurrant, ambrette oil, ambergris, cocoa, black pepper and woods.
