Production

Harvest

Native to New Caledonia and Vanuatu, Santalum Austrocaledonicum is a tree cultivated for essential oil production. The sandalwood from New Caledonia, with plantations renewed after each harvest, differs from the traditional Indian sandalwood (Santalum album) commonly used in perfumery. However, its closely related olfactory notes make it a sustainable alternative to the traditional product, which is facing depletion due to overexploitation.

Manufacturing

We source our sandalwood essential oil in the southwest of the New Caledonia archipelago, where eight tribes share the resource distributed across the entire island. Supported by the forest control administration, customary authorities ensure the sustainability of the sandalwood supply, replanting three trees for every tree used. The distillery, located on the territory of the Wapan tribe, adds local value to this supply chain.

Perfumery

Delivering refined woody notes reminiscent of copaiba and cedar, as well as creamy characteristics typical of Indian sandalwood, this essential oil is used in fine perfumery, cosmetics, and aromatherapy. It blends well in all fragrance accords, imparting elegance and softness to compositions. Perfectly unisex, it is a remarkable long-lasting ingredient.

Usage tips

Manual:

A utiliser en diffusion, de préférence à froid, à l'aide d'un appareil approprié. Diffuser sur des durées n'excédant pas 20 minutes. Ne pas diffuser dans une chambre pendant la demi-heure précédant le coucher ou pendant le sommeil. Assurer une bonne aération et ne pas diffuser dans des espaces confinés non ventilés. Ne respirer pas les huiles essentielles au-dessus de l’appareil de diffusion. Ne pas ingérer ni utiliser en application sur la peau. Tenir hors de portée des enfants. Ne pas utiliser pour les enfants de moins de 7 ans, les femmes enceintes et allaitantes, les personnes ayant des antécédents de troubles épileptiques ou convulsifs ainsi que chez les personnes asthmatiques ou allergiques aux huiles essentielles et extraits de plantes.
