Description
Discover our Damask Rose Absolute, an exceptional natural extract made accessible through our sustainable supply chain.
This product has a solid or pasty texture. To facilitate its use, gentle heating is recommended depending on its consistency:
• For solidified or hard products, gentle warming in a water bath, placing the container in a temperate environment (such as near a mild heat source), or holding it in your hands to benefit from body heat can help liquefy or soften it.
• For pasty products or those that are difficult to handle at room temperature, you can either heat them slightly (e.g., in a water bath or dry oven) or use them directly with suitable utensils, such as spatulas.
Avoid exposing the product to high temperatures (do not exceed 40°C) to preserve all its natural properties. Once warmed or prepared, ensure you use clean utensils for transferring or applying it.
Note: For technical reasons, the vial used for the 1mL packaging has a capacity of approximately 4mL, so it is normal for it to appear about one-quarter full. The packaging is carried out using precise and calibrated laboratory equipment.

A heritage cultivated with passion
Bulgaria, the historical homeland of the rose, has carried its legacy through the ages to offer the world the finest Damask rose essential oil. Two hundred years after the invention of rose distillation in Kazanlak, Bulgarian rose essence experienced a golden age just before the First World War. The turmoil of history then led to a decline in production, and by the 1980s, it had nearly lost all prominence. But in the mid-1990s, the trend reversed, and a true renaissance began: new plantations, new distilleries, and high-quality production. Today, Bulgaria has reclaimed its leading position in the world of perfumery roses. Landema (Biolandes Group) played an early role in this revival with the creation of Biolandes Bulgaria in 1996, in the heart of the Rose Valley near Kazanlak, establishing a 100-hectare rose plantation and restoring a former factory.
The harvest: a precise art
Each year, from late May to mid-June, fifteen thousand pickers engage in a race against time. At daybreak, they gently handpick each rose to capture the very essence of its fragrance, preserved by the morning dew. Originally from Persia, Rosa damascena is selected for its high essential oil content and is harvested just as it begins to bloom for optimal quality.
Manufacturing
Our rose absolute is obtained from a rose concrete produced directly at our site in Bulgaria, then processed at our extraction facility in the Landes region of France. Here are the main steps of the process:
Volatile solvent extraction (Bulgaria)
- Freshly harvested petals are immediately processed in extractors.
- A volatile solvent is used to extract the aromatic compounds, waxes, and pigments.
- After solvent evaporation, a waxy paste known as concrete is obtained.
Controlled transport of the concrete (to France)
- The concrete is packed and shipped under optimal conditions to preserve its olfactory qualities.
Transformation into absolute (Landes)
- The concrete is mixed with ethanol to dissolve only the aromatic compounds (excluding waxes).
- The mixture is then cooled to separate the waxes.
- After filtration, the alcohol is gently evaporated at low temperature to yield Damascus rose absolute.
Quality control and standardization
- Each batch is internally analyzed and validated to ensure olfactory consistency and compliance with perfumery industry standards.
