Production
Harvest
Elemi is a gum-resin produced by Canarium luzonicum, a large tree native to the Philippines that can reach 10 to 20 metres in height. It grows in a specific area of the archipelago, south of Manila. Harvesting is done by tapping: fine incisions are made in the bark, with a narrow strip removed each day, and the exuded gum is collected weekly. A tree reaches full production capacity after around seven years and then yields 4 to 5 kg of resin per year.
Manufacturing
Our elemi heart essential oil comes from raw material sourced from an exporting partner in the Philippines. The elemi essential oil is first obtained from the gum, then fractionated at the Biolandes group's French production unit: this step isolates the 'heart' fraction, which concentrates the material's most characteristic notes.

Our elemi heart essential oil reveals very powerful pink pepper notes and sparkling notes on top, pink pepper and green mandarin zest in the heart, then frankincense resinoid and mandarin in the base. This conifer-terpenic extract, fresh subfamily, has a very zesty effect that brings exceptional freshness and impacts only the top notes. Its tenacity is under three hours. It allows a fresh spicy touch to be added and the top notes to be boosted. It blends with every ingredient in fine perfumery, particularly white flowers, citrus and woody notes.
