Laurel Organic COSMOS
Description
Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis), native to Europe and North Africa, is a tree cultivated and harvested for its aromatic leaves. A symbol of victory and honour in antiquity, Roman generals were crowned with laurel, and it was sacred to Apollo in ancient Greece, it is today exploited in several regions, notably Turkey, Croatia and Albania, for essential oil and hydrolate production. Leaf harvesting can take place year-round. The hydrolate distributed by Landema is sourced from local extract producers and holds organic COSMOS certification.
This hydrolate is used in tonic lotions, care waters and facial formulations. It serves as an aqueous phase or hydrophilic active and finds its place in ranges designed for combination to oily skin.
The addition of Geogard® preservative in this bay laurel hydrolate limits microbial contamination and extends its shelf life. Not suitable for food use.

Harvest
The common bay laurel, or noble laurel, originates from Europe and North Africa. It is cultivated and harvested for its aromatic leaves, widely used in herbal medicine and perfumery. In regions such as Turkey, Croatia, and Albania, it is also grown for essential oil production. The leaves can be harvested year-round, although they are more bitter during flowering in the spring.
Bay laurel holds a powerful symbolism in European history, associated with victory and honor. In ancient Rome, victorious generals were crowned with laurel wreaths to symbolize their success. In ancient Greece, it was sacred to Apollo, the god of poetry, and the laurel crown became a symbol of wisdom and immortality in the arts.
