Oak lichens, traditionally known as "oakmoss" in perfumery, thrive on the trunks and branches of oak trees growing at altitudes between 600 and 1,100 meters in Macedonia and Morocco. These environments offer ideal climatic conditions, with humidity and air quality levels conducive to the development of these unique organisms, which result from the symbiosis between an algae and a fungus.

Harvesting takes place twice a year, in autumn and spring, when the lichens reach their optimal maturity. After picking, they are carefully sorted to remove any bark fragments or other impurities from the collection process. This rigorous selection ensures a pure, high-quality raw material, essential to producing an exceptional absolute.

Manufacturing

Landema offers a range of oakmoss natural extracts with low atranol content, compliant with IFRA and the European Cosmetics Regulation, thanks to our proprietary manufacturing process. The transformation of oakmoss concrete takes place in our facilities.

Application

Oakmoss absolute is an iconic raw material in perfumery, valued for its woody depth and natural elegance. As the true backbone of chypre and fougère accords, it structures compositions with its earthy, damp, and subtly leathery nuances.

Its olfactory profile is distinguished by:

• Woody, earthy notes, offering a deep and sophisticated base.
• A damp, mossy undertone, evoking the freshness of a forest floor after rain.
• Exceptional tenacity, enhancing the persistence and intensity of olfactory creations.

Essential in chypre accords, it blends harmoniously with bergamot, patchouli, and labdanum to create timeless, refined sillages. In fougère fragrances, it heightens the natural, elegant effect alongside lavender, geranium, and coumarin.

Compliant with current IFRA standards (low-atranol version), it offers perfumers a safe and well-controlled material, with no compromise on the olfactory richness and authenticity that have built its reputation.

Ingrédient parfumant. Teneur maximum : 0,016 % de la composition finale. Ne pas ingérer ni appliquer pur sur la peau. Tenir hors de portée des enfants. Ne pas utiliser pour les enfants de moins de 7 ans, les femmes enceintes et allaitantes, les personnes ayant des antécédents de troubles épileptiques ou convulsifs ainsi que chez les personnes allergiques aux huiles essentielles et extraits de plantes.
