Harvest
Due to its longstanding association with Tuscany, iris pallida is often referred to as 'florentin' in the perfumery world. Traditionally, the rhizomes are harvested and left to dry for two to three years to develop their distinctive aromas. They are then hand-peeled and sold to the perfume industry. This manual cultivation and preparation method is gradually fading. The iris essential oil is called 'iris butter' due to its butter-like, solidified appearance.
Manufacturing
Our iris pallida is cultivated in Landes in collaboration with a farmers' cooperative. After harvesting, it undergoes an exclusive process to achieve the same quality as aged rhizomes before being promptly distilled. This ensures consistent quality and regular production.
