Palmarosa ORG
Description
Origin and production:
Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii) is a grass related to lemongrass, traditionally cultivated in India and various subtropical regions. It is distilled twice a year after harvesting, yielding an essential oil particularly rich in geraniol—a molecule highly valued for its olfactory properties.
We cultivate palmarosa on our own certified organic farm in northwestern Madagascar, where the freshly cut stems are steam-distilled immediately after harvest to ensure optimal freshness and aromatic quality.
Olfactory profile:
Palmarosa essential oil releases a rosy-green floral note, characteristic of geraniol, supported by a soft base with slightly honeyed and powdery facets. Its scent is reminiscent of rose geranium, with a fresh, metallic nuance and subtle opoponax-like undertones.
Uses in perfumery and cosmetics:
Versatile and well-rounded, palmarosa essential oil is highly appreciated:
- In fine perfumery, for its rosy notes that enrich floral bouquets as well as oriental, woody or spicy accords.
- In personal care products (deodorants, lotions, soaps, shower gels), where it provides both freshness and depth.
- In cosmetics, for formulating skincare products aimed at blemish-prone or irritated skin.
- In cosmetic fragrance bases (oils, lotions, creams), where it blends easily with other essential oils and emulsions.
Note: For technical reasons, the vial used for the 1mL packaging has a capacity of approximately 4mL, so it is normal for it to appear about one-quarter full. The packaging is carried out using precise and calibrated laboratory equipment.
