Aromatherapy-Parapharmacy
Peruvian balsam
Description
This product has a solid or pasty texture. To facilitate its use, gentle heating is recommended depending on its consistency:
• For solidified or hard products, gentle warming in a water bath, placing the container in a temperate environment (such as near a mild heat source), or holding it in your hands to benefit from body heat can help liquefy or soften it.
• For pasty products or those that are difficult to handle at room temperature, you can either heat them slightly (e.g., in a water bath or dry oven) or use them directly with suitable utensils, such as spatulas.
Avoid exposing the product to high temperatures (do not exceed 40°C) to preserve all its natural properties. Once warmed or prepared, ensure you use clean utensils for transferring or applying it.

Production
Harvest
The Peruvian balsam is the exudate of large trees endemic to a Central American region stretching from Guatemala to Nicaragua. However, the conditions necessary for balsam production only exist in a small area of El Salvador, in the highlands west of the capital San Salvador. The harvesting of Peruvian balsam occurs in successive phases: the bark is burned, and specific areas are covered with pieces of fabric that absorb the exudates. The fabric is then pressed, and the balsam is purified through boiling and filtering.
Manufacturing
We have developed a partnership with a supplier who buys the raw material from local collectors in El Salvador to ensure the quality of the bark purchased for distillation. Distillation to produce the essential oil takes place at our main production site in Le Sen, Landes. Finally, Peruvian balsam essential oil is tested in our laboratory and then packaged on site.
