Harvest
Originating from Asia Minor, the bitter orange tree, or Seville orange, is a tree that was introduced and planted throughout the Mediterranean region by the Arabs in the 9th century. Its numerous rich and varied extracts are used in perfumery, flavors, and cosmetics. This tree is cultivated for its flowers, which are the source of a wide range of products: essential oil, absolute, orange flower water, but also for its fruits used to produce English marmalade and flavor Grand Marnier, and its leaves to produce petitgrain essential oil. The essential oil derived from the flowers is commonly known as neroli.
Manufacturing
In Paraguay, bitter orange trees are cultivated for the production of petitgrain essential oil, which is made from the leafy branches of the trees.
