Anthemis nobilis, commonly known as Roman chamomile, is a perennial plant that grows in many European countries, including England, France, and Italy. It adapts well to both temperate climates and warmer regions, such as Morocco.
Roman chamomile has been used for millennia for its calming properties.
Chamomile was associated with the sun god Ra due to its supposed ability to embody his healing power. The Egyptians used it in funerary rituals, and traces of chamomile have been found in royal tombs, such as that of Ramses II, highlighting its value in their culture.
The Greeks and Romans used chamomile flowers to relieve ailments such as fever and muscle aches.
Today, it remains a key reference in skincare and is often associated with baby care due to its gentle nature.
