Harvest
Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) is an orchid native to Mexico. Its cultivation gradually spread to several tropical regions around the world, eventually making it the most universally loved spice. Today, Madagascar is the world's leading producer, and its "Bourbon" vanilla, named after Île Bourbon, the former name of Réunion Island, is the most sought after. The beans are harvested green, mainly between May and August, then undergo a lengthy curing process (scalding, sweating and drying) that turns them into black beans with a fully developed aroma.
Manufacturing
From the Biolandes group's site in Ambanja, Madagascar, vanilla beans are sourced from selected growers in the renowned "vanilla triangle" in the north-east of the island. Our absolute is obtained by solvent extraction of the black beans. It is part of a transparent, fully traceable supply chain, built on a network of 900 farmers and on community projects benefiting both employees and growers. It belongs to the group's wide range of vanilla extracts.

Application
Main areas of application :
Cosmetic Perfumery
Perfumery
In fine perfumery or cosmetics, our vanilla absolute brings a powdery impact to compositions and unfolds the typical note of the vanilla bean from start to finish. It opens on woody nuances on top, evolves towards caramel and a powdery accord in the heart, and finally blossoms into cocoa powder and woody notes in the base. This balsamic extract, powdery subfamily, has a tenacity exceeding seven days. It is ideal for adding a vanilla note to synthetic musks and for enhancing base notes. It blends with every ingredient, particularly all woods, flowers, ambery, musky and spicy notes.
Cosmetics
In cosmetics, our vanilla absolute is used as a fragrance ingredient in the perfume bases of care products.
