Harvest
Growing in many warm regions around the world, vetiver is a remarkable plant due to the properties of its roots, which have a truly unique soil-stabilizing ability. These roots contain an essential oil with an extraordinary and unmistakable scent.
Manufacturing
Vetiver needs to remain in the ground for 10 to 14 months to allow the roots to develop their essential oil. We cultivate and distill organic vetiver on our farm near Ambanja, Madagascar.
We also have a fair trade agreement with an association of farmers from the highlands of the country for the production of vetiver roots in accordance with FFL standards. The association commits to providing certified organic - and NOP - dried vetiver roots for distillation. In return, we purchase these roots at a guaranteed minimum price that ensures higher profit margins for the growers per hectare. Additionally, a social development fund has been established, subsidized at 5% of the value of the essential oil. This fund is used to finance community actions that benefit all the growers and their families.
