Production
Harvest
Hamamelis virginiana is one of three witch hazel species native to North America. This tree, which can grow up to 9 meters tall, is now also cultivated in France, particularly in the Ardèche and Landes regions, due to its adaptability to temperate climates. The leaves and branches are harvested in summer for the production of various extracts.
Witch hazel has been used for centuries by the indigenous peoples of North America for its medicinal properties. Native American tribes prepared decoctions from the leaves and bark to help treat inflammation, wounds, and skin infections. In the 19th century, witch hazel extract gained popularity, especially in natural medicine, and it is still widely used today in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.
Plants distillated to produce our witch hazel hydrolate comes from organic farming.
