Harvest
The black spruce is a tree that can reach a height of 8 to 20 meters and typically grows in a conical shape, generally straight and sharp. It thrives in humid, granitic, sandy, or peaty soils and is found in many regions of Quebec. It grows in dense stands that block sunlight, resulting in the ground being often covered with a thick layer of moss on a damp, dark, and deep soil.
Black spruce is extensively used for paper pulp production due to its relatively soft fiber and the tree's susceptibility to twisting. Additionally, black spruce is the foundation of the famous spruce beer, a traditional beverage dating back to the French colonies.
Manufacturing
It is on our farm site in Grondines that we harvest black spruce, and at our production site in Girardville, we manufacture the essential oil.
