Harvest
Cistus ladaniferus, or labdanum-producing rockrose, is a shrub typical of the Mediterranean region. Renowned for its elegant branches and resin-textured foliage, it grows in the arid, rocky soils of southern Spain, particularly in the Andévalo region. This ideal climate, combined with environmentally friendly cultivation techniques, guarantees a raw material of exceptional quality.
The harvest, which takes place between July and October, is a true local tradition. Villagers, armed with sickles, carefully gather the leaves and stems of the rockrose, carrying on a know-how passed down from generation to generation. This ancestral tradition reflects the close bond between man and nature in this exceptional region.
Manufacturing
The Biolandes group's production site located in Puebla de Guzmán is a major player in the production of rockrose derivatives. The Andévalo region, between Seville and Portugal, is home to thousands of hectares of rockrose, the harvesting of which is an ancestral tradition. The inhabitants of Puebla de Guzmán and the surrounding villages carry on this tradition, carefully harvesting rockrose branches, a symbol of Andalusian craftsmanship and know-how.
Rockrose essential oil is obtained by direct steam distillation of the leaves and stems. This delicate process extracts the plant's precious aromas, thereby concentrating its properties.
