Production

Harvest

An emblematic tree of the North American boreal forest, balsam fir grows mainly in the cold regions of Canada, particularly in Quebec. Known as "fir balsam" in perfumery, this resinous tree is highly valued for its needles rich in aromatic compounds. Our production begins on our farm in Grondines, located in the heart of the province, where the climate conditions ensure optimal foliage development.

Harvesting takes place from February to April and from August to November, when the concentration of volatile compounds in the needles is at its peak. This sustainable harvesting method preserves the tree while ensuring a raw material of exceptional olfactory quality.

Manufacturing

The extraction of our balsam fir essential oil is carried out locally at our distillation facility in Girardville, Quebec. The process follows these steps:

  • Harvesting of fresh needles at optimal maturity.

  • Immediate transport to the distillation site to preserve aromatic integrity.

  • Gentle and extended steam distillation to ensure full expression of volatile compounds.

  • Decanting and filtration to separate the essential oil from the hydrosol and any residual matter.

  • Packaging at our facility with full traceability.

This carefully managed short supply chain guarantees consistent quality and remarkable freshness.
