Labrador tea is a plant native to North America belonging to the Ericaceae family. Found in the tundras, bogs, and forests of the region, usually consumed as a condiment or beverage, it is harvested over a period of 6 weeks from early July to mid-August. In North America, Labrador tea is a transcontinental species. Indigenous, it is mainly found in bogs and sites dominated by black spruce. It is a medium-sized evergreen shrub with alternate lanceolate leaves. Native Americans use this plant in their traditional medicine for various purposes, and it is now used as an aromatic.
