Production

Growing

A tropical perennial from the hot and humid areas of Asia and South America, the ambrette is bred for its seeds. They contain a musky-smelling oil and fatty acids.
The essential oil from the distillation of these seeds is pasty due to the mixture of oil and fatty acids.

Perfumery

This congealed essential oil is known as butter. In fine perfumery, it is a natural fixative for fragrances. Suitable for floral accords, it confers finesse and elegance through the powerful musky note to the "rice" effects it brings.
