Linalool
Linalool is part of the family of terpene alcohols or monoterpenols and is therefore recognized for having the following properties:
Powerful broad-spectrum anti-infectious:
- Antibacterial
- Antiviral
- Antifungal
- Antiparasitic
- Immune-modulating (increasing deficient immunoglobulins; decreasing excess immunoglobulins)
- Neurotonic
Linalool is also considered to be an astringent and skin tonic, sedative.
Linalool is an allergenic molecule.
At physiological and therapeutic doses, terpene alcohols or monoterpenols do not present toxicity. They can be applied undiluted on the skin for a short duration. However, for sensitive skin, dilution in a carrier oil is recommended.
Linalool is a molecule found in the following essential oils:
- Basil (Ocimum basilicum)
- Geranium bourbon (Pelargonium graveolens)
- Lavandin Grosso (Lavandula x intermedia clone Grosso)
- Lavandin super (Lavandula intermedia Super)

- Lavender fine (Lavandula angustifolia)
- Litsea cubeba (Litsea cubeba)
