Description
A rare extract with intense blue
Distilled from fresh tansy grown on our land in Morocco, our organic blue tansy essential oil is an exceptional raw material. Its intense blue color, rich aromatic profile, and traceability make it a top choice for demanding professionals in perfumery or aromatherapy.
Each batch is tested and documented to ensure optimal quality and impeccable purity.
Note: For technical reasons, the vial used for the 1mL packaging has a capacity of approximately 4mL, so it is normal for it to appear about one-quarter full. The packaging is carried out using precise and calibrated laboratory equipment.

Production
Harvest
A controlled cultivation for a valuable species
Also known as blue chamomile, blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum) is a perennial herb native to the Mediterranean basin. Naturally found in the wild in Morocco, Spain, and Algeria, it thrives in dry, sunny soils.
Traditionally harvested for its aromatic properties, blue tansy is now threatened by the overexploitation of its wild populations. To preserve this resource, we have established dedicated crops on our own Moroccan farm. This approach ensures consistent quality while reducing pressure on natural habitats.
Manufacturing
A meticulous distillation to preserve its color and active compounds
Our blue tansy essential oil is obtained from fresh plants harvested on our farm. The production is fully controlled, from the field to the bottle.
Steps of the extraction process:
-
Hand harvesting of the blue tansy flowering tops at the optimal stage of maturity.
-
Immediate transport to our distillery located near the farm.
-
Steam distillation in a copper still, without the addition of solvents or additives.
-
Decantation of the essential oil, followed by separation of the hydrosol.
-
Filtration, quality controls, and final packaging on-site.
Chamazulene, the aromatic molecule responsible for the characteristic indigo blue color, naturally forms during distillation under the effect of heat. This molecule is highly sought after for its olfactory and technical properties.

Application
Main areas of application :
Perfumery Aromatherapy - Parapharmacy
Perfumery
An original and powerful olfactory asset
Blue tansy essential oil is widely used in fine perfumery for its rustic, warm, and herbaceous notes. In small doses, it enriches creations with myrrh, resinous, and camphor-like effects.
Due to its complex olfactory signature, it pairs perfectly with:
-
Floral accords (jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose)
-
Oriental and spicy bases
-
Masculine fougere and aromatic structures
-
Musky bases where it adds depth
However, its blue chromatic intensity must be carefully controlled in cosmetic or olfactory formulations containing light-colored bases.
Aromatherapy :
A concentrated molecular richness
Highly concentrated in chamazulene, camphor, and sabinene, blue tansy essential oil is valued in aromatherapy for its complex biochemical profile.
Main components:
- Sabinene (6 to 26%)
- Myrcene (4 to 16%)
- Camphor (borneol) (7 to 15%)
- Chamazulene (2 to 11%)
- β-pinene (≤ 10%)
- α-phellandrene (4 to 10%)
It is typically used diluted and in small doses in targeted preparations, due to its high concentration and distinctive color.
