Harvest
Native to the Mediterranean region, rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is a small perennial shrub that thrives in dry, sunny, and well-drained soils. It is cultivated under different chemotypes depending on the climatic conditions: camphor rosemary, cineole rosemary, or verbenone rosemary. Each of these biochemical profiles produces an essential oil with specific properties and applications. Verbenone rosemary is a variety particularly valued for its rarity and the subtlety of its compounds. It naturally grows in certain areas of Corsica, where soil and exposure conditions promote an optimal concentration of verbenone and esters.
Manufacturing
Our verbenone rosemary essential oil is obtained from the distillation of flowering tops harvested in Corsica. This rare chemotype requires great care during harvesting: only the aerial parts in full bloom are selected to ensure a high concentration of aromatic molecules.
The extraction is carried out by steam distillation in stills. This gentle and respectful process produces a pure and complete essential oil, without solvents or additives. The steam carries the volatile compounds from the plant tissues, which are then condensed in a coil cooled with water. The essential oil is collected by decantation, separated from the hydrosol. This method ensures the preservation of the most delicate fractions, particularly the esters and ketones responsible for the oil’s refined olfactory quality.
