Beta-pinene
Beta-pinene is part of the terpenes or monoterpenes family and is therefore recognized for having the following properties:
- Lymphotonic, phlebotonic
- Digestive stimulants
- Atmospheric antiseptics
- Cortico-adrenal stimulants
- Antiviral
- Balsamic expectorants

In its pure state, an essential oil mainly composed of terpenes or monoterpenes can cause irritations, the intensity of which depends on the patient's skin sensitivity. This irritation can be relieved by the local application of vegetable oil. Essential oils of turpentine and juniper can cause inflammation in the kidney in patients with kidney insufficiency.
Beta-pinene is a molecule present in the following essential oils:
- Blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum)
- Fir Balsam (Abies balsamea)
- Juniper berries (Juniperus communis)
- Labrador tea (Ledum groenlandicum)
- Lemon (Citrus limon)
- Rosemary cineol (Rosmarinus officinalis)
