This product has a paste-like texture. To make it easier to use, gently warm it depending on the consistency:

New Caledonia sandalwood: raw material and valorization
Santalum austrocaledonicum (family Santalaceae) is a wood native to New Caledonia and Vanuatu. The essential oil is traditionally obtained by hydrodistillation of the wood and roots, the latter being particularly rich in odorant compounds. After distillation, the lees (heavy phases) can undergo a second distillation to recover residual fractions.
As part of a co-product valorization approach, the so-called “spent” wood (after distillation) remains a valuable aromatic resource. This is precisely the substrate we use to produce an upcycled sandalwood by-absolute: a natural extract with a woody, cocoa, mocha, and oak profile, designed for professional formulations.

Perfumery
Upcycled sandalwood absolute delivers a woody spectrum complemented by nut, mocha, and oak facets, with a cocoa-powder heart. It is widely used to texture and round out formulas, with a naturally long-lasting effect.
Olfactory architecture:
- Top: nutty, mocha, oak imprint
- Heart: cocoa powder, amber rum
- Base: vanilla, mocha, oakwood
Roles in composition
- Fixative: reinforces the tenacity of woody, oriental, and ambery bases.
- Texturizer: brings roundness and grain (a “patinated” effect) to overly dry structures.
- Bridging accords: an excellent link between resinoids (labdanum, benzoin), woods (cedar), gourmands (vanilla, tonka), solar florals (ylang), and aromatics (lavender, olibanum).
